Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is an award winning debt counselling charity. CAP’s headquarters are in Bradford and there is a growing network of centres throughout the UK.
Thousands of families have already been released from the pressure of debt through a combination of advice, financial education, budgeting and insolvency services.
The Croydon Centre for Christians Against Poverty was launched February 2010 in partnership with Croydon Jubilee Church, and since opening has been receiving a steady flow of clients seeking our services.
Who Do We Help
CAP is uniquely placed to particularly help low income, financially and socially disadvantaged people out of debt. We help anyone regardless of their financial status or religious beliefs. We aim to ensure that nobody receives less favorable treatment on the grounds of race, nationality, religion, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.
Debt causes so many problems in society including fear, stress, illness and missing meals, through to relationship and family breakdown and even suicide.
How Do We Help
Since being founded in 1996, we have developed our service to give our clients the best possible chance to get out, and then stay out, of debt. Our clients’ needs and feedback have formed the in-depth nature of our service.
By providing a face to face, holistic service each client is visited at home by a Debt Coach and a Befriender and our ongoing free service not only helps clients to work their way out of debt, but also assists them to rebuild their lives and move forward to become reconnected and active members of the community that they live in.
For further information on how you can get involved in this life changing work please contact Croydon Centre Manager, Chris Thacker.
