The Joseph Centre - Beulah Family Church
The Joseph Centre is Beulah Family Church’s new community centre. It opened on 20th July , the day of the great downpour; we survived the flooding in the new hall and enjoyed a great opening weekend, even cooking a Sunday Roast for over 250 people from the local community.
To advertise the opening, we arranged a praise March around our local area, it was a great success, and we handed out over 14,000 leaflets then and throughout the week explaining what we as a church were doing and what the Joseph Centre would be offering
We now have the Citizens Advice Bureau here once a fortnight offering a drop–in service to the local community, and very soon our learning centre with 6 computers will be open, offering basic computer skills training. We have also opened “The café on the crescent” which is slowly building up a good customer base.
We are still applying for funding so that we can have 4 salaried posts, 2 youth workers, a centre manager and an elderly worker. We aim to have youth groups each night and to offer an outreach service to both the elderly and 16 – 18 year olds.
In January next year we will be able to support the Homeless Shelter in Croydon, putting the new facilities to good use by providing a place to sleep, eat and shower. We won’t stop there, but we continue to seek funding and to offer services to the community, in all this aiming to share Gods love in a practical way.
